Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Eccleshill United have announced that Ryan Toulson is their new player-manager after the departure of Lee Elam.

Elam has stepped down, after three years at the helm, due to family and work commitments with his assistant Asif Hussain also leaving the Eagles who narrowly missed out on promotion in the Inter-Step Play-Offs in April.

A statement released by the club said: "We would like to place on record our appreciation and gratitude to both Lee and Asif for all their hard work and dedication during their tenure at our club.

"They both leave on the very best terms and we wish them all the very best in the future."

Due to the impending start of pre-season and friendlies, the club have moved quickly to find Elam's replacement with Toulson brought in from his role as player-coach at Vanarama National League North club Bradford (Park Avenue).

"Ryan is very highly regarded and has a wealth of experience having played for FC Halifax Town, Guiseley and Bradford (Park Avenue)", the Eagles explained in a further statement, describing him as "the outstanding candidate" to take up the vacated position.

They have thanked his former club for their co-operation and agreeing to release him to take on the role.

Further announcements will be made with regards to Toulson's assistants in the coming days.
